April 1993 - May 1999 [Part 1]
Daytime • Early Weekend • 1pm [April 1993 - October 1997]
BBC One National News
Tuesday April 13 1993 and a complete overhaul for BBC News presentation. A new virtual studio was introduced; most of what you saw on-screen was computer-generated. There was a lot of scope here in terms of layout and appearance. Sadly, the potential was never realised, with most of the bulletins having the same general look, bar the 'Nine O'Clock News' and 'Breakfast News'. However, the look of the 'Nine O'Clock News' was altered for the duration of the 1997 General Election campaign.
