A widescreen version of the titles was first used on November 19 2001; however, the 'BBC Northern Ireland' logo was placed too far down. The titles were withdrawn and replaced with a 14:9 version.

From November 19 2001, the programme was referred to as 'BBC Newsline'; reporters now signed off with 'BBC Newsline' rather than 'BBC News'. A 'BBC Newsline' logo was added to the set behind the presenters. The brand was further emphasised from Tuesday May 07 2002, with the introduction of a 'BBC Newsline' DOG.

On November 19 2001, the aston colour scheme was amended: the cyan background was switched to blue; the top row of text changed from blue to cyan; the bottom row of text was now white. A further alteration followed in March 2000, with the introduction of the 'Big Ted' aston machine, bringing the programme in line with the technology used on the national news. The only noticeable sign of change - slightly narrower fonts. In May 2002, the blue background on the astons was made transparent.
