From Monday September 03 2001, the BBC South East region was split. London broke away from BBC South East, forming a separate BBC region - BBC London. In the new south east region, 'South East Today' served viewers in Kent and East Sussex. For the time being, 'Newsroom South East' continued in the new BBC London region.
However, on October 01 2001, it was all change, with the launch of 'BBC LDN'.
