December 2005 - April 2008
Early-evening weekday programme
BBC London News
Monday December 12 2005 saw the introduction of new titles and graphics on 'BBC London News'; the programme's theme tune was also updated. Red Bee Media were given the task of refreshing the identity of the programme in a way in which viewers' images of London could be included.

Red Bee Media created an identity based on a distinctive but functional red and white design. It includes diagonal wipe sequences to clearly brand the news and provide a clear divide between stories. Lower thirds have also been introduced into the ‘headline’ sequence as a way of flagging up more of the stories that will be featured in the following news programme.

The identity features a title sequence with images that Londoners can identify with. Red Bee Media initially provided a library of over 600 still and moving images, but photos and film clips that viewers send in can also be featured.

The identity was created in ‘Final Cut Pro’ on a desktop to ensure 'BBC London News' could also use the software to easily adapt the title sequence and graphic tool kit.
